Academy & Digital Lab Days (what happened was truly inspiring!)

Hello Reader,

It's been an intense few weeks in the Digital Lab! Over the last two weeks we launched our new online Academy. Simultaneously, we held our very first Digital Lab Days events in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It was incredible how both new initiatives brought people together - online and in-person, longtime supporters and collaborators as well as new members of our community. What brought us together was a shared commitment to accurate, meaningful cultural representation in video games, and bridging games, GLAM, and the academy.

For everyone who took part, in-person or online, your participation is moving the needle on our vision of a more inclusive and global past, through games, XR+, and open education!

If you missed the first Academy classes, it's not too late to learn with us this summer! The feedback from the first cohort speaks for itself - you can read two eloquent testimonials here and here. To Mohammad, Mourad, and our other Academy participants, a very sincere thank you for the energy and enthusiasm you brought to the sessions!

The standalone session on Representing Historical Islamic Societies: Common Pitfalls will be offered for the last time this summer on Monday 14 July - register here.

The 'Gunpowder Empires' Unit will be offered for the only time this summer, starting Monday 14 July - register here.

And do follow us on LinkedIn to see recaps on Digital Lab Days courtesy of Izzy, Mona, and Deniz, and for more on Academy directly from Sarah.

All my best,

Glaire
